# Voice on Mobile

> Talk with your Digital Twin in real time in the Praxis AI mobile app: start Convo Mode, mute, use an avatar, and keep the conversation in picture-in-picture on Android.

## Introduction

**Convo Mode** lets you talk with your Digital Twin and hear it answer, as in a phone call. In the app, it starts from the purple **voice** button in the message bar.

***

## Who can use it

| Where | Voice is available when |
| - | - |
| Your **Personal** space | Always |
| A **Digital Twin** | Its admin has turned on Convo Mode, and either you are an admin of the twin or the twin offers it to all its members |

When voice isn't available to you, the button is greyed out. The app supports the OpenAI realtime voice, ElevenLabs voices and Anam avatars. If your Digital Twin uses another voice provider, the app says that it isn't supported in the mobile app yet; use the web app instead.

***

## Start a voice conversation

**1. Tap the voice button**

With the message field empty, tap the purple **voice** button at the right of the message bar.

**2. Allow the microphone**

The first time, your phone asks for microphone access. On Android 12 and later it also asks for **Nearby devices**, so that the app can use your Bluetooth headset.

**3. Talk**

The screen shows an animated circle and what's happening: **Connecting…**, **Listening…**, **Thinking…** or **Speaking…**. Talk naturally, as you would on a call.

**4. End the conversation**

Tap the red **end** button, or the button in the message bar, which turns red during a call. The conversation is saved in your conversation list.

### During the conversation

| Control | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Microphone** | Mutes or unmutes you. The caption reads **Tap mic to mute** or **Microphone muted**. |
| **End** (red) | Ends the conversation |
| **Picture-in-picture** (Android only) | Shrinks the conversation to a small window so you can use other apps |

* **Transcript**: when your Digital Twin allows it, the last lines of the conversation appear on screen, with your words marked **You:**.
* **Typing**: if your Digital Twin allows typing during a voice conversation, the message bar stays available so you can type as well.
* **Sound**: the answer plays through the loudspeaker, or through your Bluetooth headset when one is connected.

## Avatar conversations

Some Digital Twins answer with a video **avatar** (Anam). The avatar appears in a floating window with **mute**, **end** and **expand** buttons. Tap **expand** to see it full screen, if your Digital Twin's admin allows that; some twins open full screen straight away.

In full screen, tap the video to show or hide the controls. You can turn your phone sideways. On Android, the **Back** button moves the avatar into picture-in-picture.

## Good to know

* A voice conversation ends when you switch to another Digital Twin, leave the chat screen, or (except in picture-in-picture on Android) switch to another app.
* Voice conversations use credits, as on the web.
* If you withdraw your AI consent during a call, the call ends and its transcript isn't saved.
