}Confirm it's you — ask for the code that gives a course-page session its full rights
A session that a course page (Canvas) opened for an administrator — or that a Digital Twin’s sign-in provider
opened for one of its people — starts with user rights in that twin only: until the person confirms it’s them,
every route outside the twin’s day-to-day work (chat, conversations, the person’s own files, the profile and
preferences) answers 403 with code: LAUNCH_SCOPE_STEP_UP and the twin’s id in twin — and a day-to-day
route answers the same 403 when the session asks for an administrator’s view (uploading into the twin’s
shared files, listing them or their trash, every member’s usage, a platform setting, a change of the account’s
name, address, password or security settings). This route creates that
confirmation as an email-code challenge, unsent like a launch’s: “Send me a code” (POST /api/auth/mfa-resend
with the challengeId) emails it, and POST /api/auth/mfa-verify checks it and answers a new session token
with full rights — plus mfaTrust, the handle a course page keeps so its next launches into this twin need no
code for a day. Asked again while the challenge is pending (the widget runs on every page), the same
challengeId comes back; another network gets its own. Wrong codes count against the course-page sign-in’s
budget, never the password sign-in’s.

Response
The challenge to confirm with (the shape of a sign-in's mfaRequired answer).
true
Pass to /api/auth/mfa-resend ("Send me a code") and /api/auth/mfa-verify.
email, totp "j***@school.example"
false until "Send me a code".
Always true — this challenge lifts the session's limits.
