A Digital Twin opened from a Blackboard Learn course can read that course for the learner who is asking: the course contents, announcements, the learner’s own grades and the calendar. It works in text chats, voice conversations and realtime conversations. Blackboard tools are read-only. The twin can look things up in Blackboard, but it cannot change anything there: it cannot post, submit, grade or delete.

What learners can ask

  • “What’s in the Week 3 folder?”
  • “Did my instructor post any announcements?”
  • “What are my grades so far in this course?”
  • “What is due this week?”
  • “Which courses am I enrolled in?”
The twin reads the learner’s own Blackboard course, with the learner’s own read-only Blackboard sign-in. It shows a learner only what that learner is allowed to see in Blackboard. If Blackboard does not let the learner see something (for example, material meant for instructors), the twin tells them so. By default the twin looks at the course the learner most recently opened it from.

Connecting Blackboard (learners)

The first time a learner asks something that needs Blackboard, the twin answers with a sign-in link:
1

Open the link

The link works once and stays valid for 10 minutes.
2

Sign in to Blackboard if asked

When the page Connected to Blackboard appears, you are connected.
3

Ask again

Return to the chat and ask the same question again.
If the link has expired, ask again for a new one. A learner who has never opened the twin from their Blackboard course is asked to open it from there first, then ask again.
Blackboard tools are available when the twin was opened from Blackboard Learn. They are not available while an administrator is viewing as another person.

Setting it up (Digital Twin admins)

1

Register Pria in Blackboard

Complete the Blackboard Learn installation so the twin opens from your courses, and the REST API integration described under Require Blackboard sign-in.
2

Ask Praxis AI to connect your Blackboard Learn site

Send your Blackboard address and the Digital Twin (or account) to the Praxis AI team at humans@praxis-ai.com. The team connects your Blackboard Learn site and approves it.
3

Check the Tools list

Open the Digital Twin’s settings and its Tools list. Once your Blackboard Learn site is connected, a Blackboard feature appears for the twin’s tools. It has no switch of its own. If the site is not connected, call_blackboard appears under “Not listed because their feature is off for this Digital Twin”.
You can switch the call_blackboard tool off like any other tool; a tool that is switched off is never offered to the twin. See Tools.
